Ok, as perfect as it gets when you have three little kids!
Wake up, not too early today. All three kids slept in a little, and were happy when they woke up.
Get kids a decent breakfast... leftover toasted croissants with jam. Kids play outside in relative harmony while I get a decent shower!
Snack for the kids so they don't get the grumpies. Carrot-cake cupcakes, yum!
Blow up the little pool we bought yesterday with the pump that Daddy-J found for us this morning. Start filling it with water.
Lunch on the deck... not too windy, not too hot, not too cloudy, not raining, just right! PB&Js, cantaloupe I bought at the farm stand yesterday, chocolate milk!
Get some work done in the afternoon while the kids play in and out of the pool, in and out of their swimsuits, and go through at least 1000 towels! And oh how I wish I had a picture of Miss-D, buck naked, riding her scooter around the courtyard -- with her helmet on! Priceless!
Do some tidying in the kitchen and office while two kids watch movies in my bed and a third wanders the house, singing, playing, doing whatever.
Barbecue at friends' house -- kids behave beautifully! Food, of course, was awesome! Everyone fell asleep in the car on the way home (well, all the kids anyway!) and transferred to their sleepy beds quietly.
Now I'm going to bed too.
Hoping tomorrow it won't rain and Sunday we may get on the boat, finally!

One intense kid.
Ok, so let me start off with the usual bromides: I love my kids to death. I love each one of them just as much as any of the others. They are all wonderful and creative and unique and special. Good enough?!
Right now K-Wiggles is driving me off my rocker. It seems we have finally put to rest my latest issue with M-Moo, so of course, the minute that wanes, K-Wiggles enters a phase that is worse than any I can remember so far. I don't get headaches, I just don't, never have. But K-Wiggles gives me a headache from before she wakes up until after she goes to bed!
This child wakes up throwing a tantrum. She throws a tantrum if I say "no" to her in any form. She throws a tantrum if I say "wait" in any form. But that's not all... no... K-Wiggles will throw a fit when I tell her "yes" or "ok" or "yeah, sure." Seriously!
For just one example, I told them at dinner tonight that if they finished their dinner they could have a carrot-cake cupcake. Mind you, their dinner was bacon-wrapped filet mignon with cous cous and corn on the cob. Not so bad, huh? The minute I mentioned finishing dinner and having a treat, K-Wiggles launches into a tirade about how she wants a treat. This is, of course, said at full shriek volume (the only volume she has these days), and accompanied by thrashing of limbs and perhaps ultimately falling to the floor writhing! And what does she do when I say "yes, you finished your dinner so you can have a treat?" She doesn't miss a beat. Keeps shrieking that she wants a treat, keeps writhing on the floor. Seriously!
And this happens, at modest estimate, 50 times a day. Not exaggerating.
Can you say exhausting?
And of course, her sisters, especially Miss D, just seem to delight in antagonizing her right now. Any chance she gets, Miss D will say something "mean" to K-Wiggles just to see her start shrieking and flailing and writhing. It's enough to drive me straight to the funny farm, I swear.
Of course, in the midst of all this shrieking and flailing, etc., she comes up with the most darling, tantrumy, shrieky, "Mama I need a giant hug." I can't even tell when she flips over from the tantrum to the "I need a hug" phase because the tone doesn't change and neither does the flailing and writhing. But once I figure out that's what she wants, it does seem to defuse the tantrum, at least for the moment.
Sigh. Well, at least the kid seems to be figuring out what she needs to calm down. She's taken a bunch of naps lately (absolutely wrecking her bedtime, but whatever) and she's taken herself down to her room to sit in bed and look at books several times, just to get herself out of the spiral with her sisters and try for a reset.
We even did some deep breathing in the car this morning, and that seemed to help somewhat.
I know this too shall pass, but I didn't want it to pass without at least writing it down for posterity's sake.
K-Wiggles is one intense little kid. She's been that way since before she was born. Gotta love her... or kill her!

Yet another catching up post.
What is with my life these days that I cannot keep up with this 'blog? Can it possibly be that I am not spending nearly enough time on my butt in front of a computer? If only!
Anyway, we left off with the reconstruction of our lovely home finally under way. At this point, we have accomplished the following:
1. Demolition complete.
2. Drywall repair complete.
3. Painting complete.
That's it. But it really feels like progress! We have gotten far enough along in the budget process that I think we'll have the money to do this, with enough left over for a nifty home theater where the exercise room used to be!
What else have we been up to? Well, swimming lessons started last week for the girls. Miss D almost immediately got bumped up a level, so she is now a Dolphin and the littles are Guppies. They are enjoying the heck out of swimming lessons! K-Wiggles especially is a total lunatic in the water. Today we finally got a chance to stay at the pool after swimming lessons and all three girls went down the slide by themselves (with me to catch them!). We had a rocking good time!
Work has been medium-crazy, but with everything else going on, it has been hard to keep up. Daddy J and I were in North Carolina (Raleigh) over the last weekend. There was a ReBath Vision Group meeting and the wives mostly spa'd and shopped. Jim and I did make it to the Outer Banks for two days, which was very fun!
I have not been on my bike in over 3 weeks now, which is a major bummer. G'ma Libby and G'pa Irv go home tomorrow, so maybe I will find some time between now and when we leave on our Yellowstone trip.
The girls are super excited to be going camping. I am hoping we will be able to get the boat on the water this weekend. We have had so much rain this summer... at least three weeks straight of gray, cold, rainy weather. Ugh! I'm thinking we'll pitch the tent in the yard this weekend and have a trial run camp-out to make sure the girls know what we're getting into and that we have everything we need.
And someday, I promise, I will get back to posting pictures. I know between my lackadaisical posting and lack of pictures, this blog is getting boring. *sigh* Hopefully my office will be put back together soon and I will get back into the routine of uploading and posting pictures. Someday, right?!

Construction Update
So far, the drywall is all hung and has been taped and mudded twice. I'm thinking they'll be back to mud and sand one more time, maybe two, and that will be done.
We had a painter in today to do an estimate, but he came out so ridiculously expensive we're thinking of doing the painting ourselves. I want to save all the insurance money to put toward the hardwood flooring we want to do in the great room upstairs. Maybe we're crazy to think about painting ourselves, but it should be relatively easy... no floors to worry about spilling onto. Just have to worry about the trim, which we wouldn't be painting. Plus, we've decided not to change colors or repaint whole rooms, so we just have to feather in the new paint to the existing paint. Someday we'll change colors and paint the whole rooms, just not right now. I want to do as little as possible to get things put back together.
So next up is getting a bid on the rock work for the two fireplaces. We need a plumber to move some pipes that are sticking up from where the bar used to be upstairs. We're going to move those over toward the wall so we can have a built-in wet bar in between the dining room and living room on a much smaller scale than what we had before.
After that, it's flooring. Hard wood upstairs and carpet in the master and office and downstairs.
We did spend some serious time at Best Buy this weekend, figuring out what we want for the media room. Have to figure out who to call to come move the home gym that's in there currently out to the garage.
And I need to choose some kind of cabinet/sink for the wet bar.
Still lots to do, but seeing the drywall go up and get mudded and taped at least looks like progress! There are "before" and some "during" pics on my camera if I ever get around to uploading pictures again in this lifetime!

Demolition has begun!
Two guys from Re-Bath came up today and started demolition on the remodeling project we've got underway. Our little toilet leak netted us a tidy sum from the insurance company, so we're tweaking the budget to add a few little projects to the list that weren't exactly part of the leak cleanup.
For starters, today we tore down the rock wall around the fireplaces in the living room, master bedroom, and family room! We also took out two closets in what was the workout room to make that into a media room. Finally, we cut a new doorway into a wall downstairs to make a public bathroom for the family room.
There were only minor incidents, including: shorting out the intercom/radio system when a hanging wire from the recently removed speaker outlet touched a metal lightswitch box; a badly turned ankle when one workman dropped the heavy trash can that two of them were carrying; a split nose when a piece of two-by-four with a nail in it came down from the ceiling unexpectedly; some cut wires in the area of the new doorway; and a whole bunch of concrete and rock in the family room downstairs because we ran out of steam and time to get it all out to the dumpster tonight.
Thankfully, the demo phase is almost done. All that's left is to take down the bar in between the living and dining rooms and remove the bar cabinets in the family room. I packed up the living/dining room bar, but I still need to get all the stuff out of the family room cabinets.
The drywallers should be here to start on Friday. Daddy J and I are going to try designing the fireplace surrounds we want tonight so I can call a mason tomorrow to get a bid on that.
Then we do painting and flooring and it's all done! Ha!

A neat trick.
The other day, M-Moo happened upon Daddy J peeing in the bathroom. I'm not sure how the girls have managed to be so sheltered, but she was amazed to see Daddy standing up and directing his pee neatly into the potty from high up! "That's a neat trick, Daddy!" she exclaimed.
Fast forward a few days, the littles are sitting at the dinner table, and somehow (don't ask me how!) the subject of Daddy's neat trick came up. M-Moo proceeds to tell K-Wiggles that Daddy has a neat trick. Of course, K-Wiggles wants to know what it is.
So M-Moo explains succinctly that Daddy can pee standing up, by lifting up his jammies and waiting for his pee to come down out of his belly button! LOL!
Anatomy lesson, anyone?

Mama-Daughter Days.
Today was a mama-daughter day for me and Miss D. She did some really nice and grown up things yesterday, so I promised her some special time with just me. We got up this morning, got dressed, and headed out to a super-secret breakfast place together. Miss D had the biggest cinnamon roll I think I've ever seen (and she ate almost all of it!). We enjoyed a really nice, relaxing breakfast together.
After that, we headed out to the playground. Lucky for me, she found some friends to play with, so I got to sit and relax (my favorite thing to do at the playground!). She played for about an hour until it was time for her soccer game.
Miss D played a good soccer game, but no goals today. She and her teammates still had a really great time out there, which is by far the most important thing to me. I want all my girls to grow up loving being active!
Unfortunately, we had to get home after that because I had a conference call. But after that, we all wound up going over to my friend Kerry's house to watch the Redwings absolutely slaughter the Penguins in game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals!
All-in-all, a good Saturday! Oh, and I got some online decluttering done, downloading a bunch of financial info to Quicken (I recently took over our finances from our bookkeeper, so this was a big step!).

Big girl beds.
The littles finally got their big girl beds yesterday. I've been meaning to get them since at least Christmas (when I got their big girl bedding!) but it just didn't happen until yesterday. It was the second-to-last day of school and the littles were invited to be "lunch bunchers" and stay the whole day at school, so I had from 9:00 to 3:00 to myself.
When I told Daddy J that I was going to take the Suburban to town to pick up beds for the girls, he frowned and said I had to get the tires changed first. Mind you, I've been driving the Suburban all over creation for at least a week with the nice Blizzak snow tires on it, but today apparently I had to get them changed! Whatever.
So I spent the first hour of my day waiting for the tires to get changed. Then I had to drop off some papers at court. Then I had to go home and haul the old tires (with rims still attached) out of the Suburban to make room for the beds. Then I had to have lunch with Daddy J.
I finally made it to the mattress store where we had a "connection" by about 1:00. After a bumpy start because our "connection" didn't know who I was, I got the good deal on the beds, got them loaded in the Suburban and headed to Target.
Why Target? Well, I needed to replace (again) the bike helmet I had bought for M-Moo the day before because the dog had chewed through the straps, again. I also grabbed some sand toys for the sandbox and stopped at Home Depot to get 250 pounds of play sand.
So the girls were pretty excited when we got home. They spent an hour or two outside playing with the sand while I put the beds together. Then they spent another hour playing in the littles' new room! It looks so cute, but no pictures yet as (1) my Photoshop CS4 hasn't arrived (but I ordered it, aren't you excited?!) and (2) I need to paint in their room before I take pictures.
Anyway, I know this is all terribly exciting, but it does tell you some of what I've been doing lately. The oh-so-exciting goings on at Casa Llamedos!

Testing email posts
Supposedly, now I can post to my blog via email. Is there no limit to the connectedness? I still refuse to check out twitter, as this blog, my boards, email, and facebook really should be enough, don't you think?
Sent from my Windows Mobile® phone.
Where does the time go?
I swear it has not been since May 21 that I updated my blog. *sigh*
So what have we been up to at Casa Llamedos?
Well, for Memorial Day weekend, Daddy-J and I got away for a quick trip to Moab with some friends. We took our mountain bikes and hit some really cool trails down there. We did not do Slickrock (yay!), but we did the Bar M and Circle O trails, as well as Lower Monitor & Merrimac. Both were fun, challenging trails, but I didn't kill myself!
After we got back, we had the girls' "last" week of school, with their "closing ceremonies" on Friday and the Children's Fair on Sunday. The Children's Fair was a lot of fun this year, as the girls were old enough to do almost all the bouncy houses, slides, pony rides, cake walk, and face painting. Daddy-J was not feeling too well on Sunday (we went to see REO Speedwagon, Styx, and 38 Special the night before and I think he may have had a few alcoholic beverages), so the girls and I went to the fair on our own.
Then this week, we've had our real last week of school (the extra week because of our swine flu vacation earlier this year). I've been organizing like a fiend... my decluttering program is paying off, though progress always seems slow. Tomorrow, all three girls are going to all-day school, from 9:00 to 3:00. The littles have been dying to try out "lunch bunch" so I told them they could go tomorrow. They're doing a "water" day in the afternoon, so they will probably have a blast getting soaking wet. The littles will probably be more excited about the fact that they get to take a backpack to school with their lunchboxes in them!
What else? My new computer is up and running, but I haven't done much photo-wise yet because I'm waiting to find the money in the budget to buy Photoshop (I just have Elements on my old 'puter and I really want to get Photoshop for this new computer). I did get some great shots of Miss D at her soccer game on Saturday. I did finally get to see her score a goal, too! She's really enjoying this spring league.
Swimming starts in a week or so, and Daddy J and I are off to Raleigh in mid-June. Then it's a camping trip with some friends when we get back, then Yellowstone just after 4th of July and G'ma camp in Missoula. After that, we have camping with the Smith clan at Fish Lake, another session of swimming in August, Daddy J and I are going on a cruise in the Mediterranean and then school will be starting before we know it! Somewhere in there, we're hoping to get some time on the boat!
